All personal trainers and aerobic instructors what is the best lower ab exercise?

I am a medium sized women with a problem area of my abdominal mainly my lower abs what is the best exercise?

there is no such thing as the lower abdominals. the rectus abdomins (RA) is a single muscle and you can't isolate part of a muscle. the best ab exercises are the ones that utilize a full range of motion.

leg lifts, flutter kicks, etc. do not work the "lower abs" as many may claim. they only stimulate the RA isometrically with muscle of the hip flexors performing the majority of the work. these muscle lie deep underneath the RA at the pelvic region. and cause localized fatigue when performed. many falsely judge the mechanics of exercise by the amount of localized fatigue that is experienced

in order to "see" the lower portion of the RA the body fat must be reduced. this is accomplished through dietary changes and by increasing the metabolic rate by exercising at a high level of intensity.

    Hi,

congrats for your descision to take your body in your hands :)

About lower abdominal exercises - they will help you to tighten your lower abdominal area, take ideas from this page http://100abdominalexercises.com/lower_abdominal_exercise.aspx - there is video how to do the exercise and explanation of proper bearthing.

Now about that you told you have problem lower abdominal area - is that mean you don't like the fat in this area? You can't burn fat only with exercises and especially only in your lower stomach.

What I would recommend is to start healthy diet (it means to eat often but small portion) and to workout your overal body.

You will see results after a week, and after a month there will be big difference in your body.

Check this diet, in my opinion it is balanced, because every day you eat nesccesary nutrition and don't stay hungry http://100abdominalexercises.com/fast_weight_loss_diet_plan.aspx

Now abaout exercises, in this page you can find free videos to workout at your home http://www.women-workout-routines.com/free-workout-routines.html

Wish you the body you want and many nice moments :)
