what are some ab exercises that work better with less reps?

i’m 14 i’m not fat but i do have three fractures in my spine and i’ve been trying to strengthen my core because my doctor say’s it will keep the pain away. i have back exercises but i have to do like 400 crunches to barley start feeling anything got any good ab exercises i could do that involve less reps and greater effect.

Iron crosses or leg lifts are an ideal exercise for strengthening your mid-section.

1) Lie flat on a floor and place your hands either under your butt, along your sides, or behind your head.
2) Cross one leg over the other.
3) While keeping your legs locked straight, lift your legs up to a height of about 2-3 feet from the ground and bring them back down again to a height of about 6 inches. This is considered a repetition of one iron cross or leg lift.
4) Do approximately three sets of 30 leg lifts, or whatever you can handle.

Basically any exercise that increases the intensity of your ab workout will reduce the number of repetitions that you will need to do. Putting a 10 or 25 pound barbell on your chest while doing crunches also helps.
