When you do ab workouts are sides supposed to change?

I dont really know how to explain it but im asking like when you do ab workouts like situps and leg raises are your sides for abs supposed to become lower. Like i have little belly. and I see it regular and i see side abs go down. I cant really explain it good srry.

Obliques… they’re the muscle that shows up on the sides…. and give you better definition for your abs…. you should also be doing back extensions so that the opposing muscles are in sync.
