some exercises like sit up/crunches only tone muscles but don't reduce stomach FAT.
What exercises will decrease fat (not only tone muslce)
cardio is the way to go, I can see my weight gains right in teh luv handle/backfat area if i stop runnig. I think its about the sweat and calories burned. a couple weeks to a month of aggressive cardio with decent diet you should see a difference
