Pls. help me with my homework in nutrition. These are the given calorie distribution:CHO=180gCHON=30g,FATS=45G

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition data | 1 Comment »

The total calorie requirement of a 6 yr. old is 91 calories/kg. and the CHON req. is 1.7- 2 gms/kg. I am asked to make a dinner menu with this data. Pls. help me.

I think we need more information to help you, such as the weight of the six year old, the number of calories he has already consumed for the day, etc. You may get more help with a question like this if you posted it in another category, such as Diet and Fitness under the Health category.

In the United States, why isn't alcohol required to have nutrition facts?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition fact | 5 Comments »

Every food you buy (except for produce) is required to have a nutrition facts label on the packaging. I've never seen soda, juice, milk, etc. without that label. So why is it that alcoholic beverages don't have nutrition labels on them? (at least to tell you how many calories and all that?)

Good question. I'm guessing its because alcohol is regualted differently than other food products. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tabaco and Firearms is the branch of government that controls that sort of thing.

dose anyone want help with nutrition to help get better with cancer?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition help | 3 Comments »

iv read a lot about nutriton and cancer. id love to help people learn too. id love to be personally involved with helping people get better form cancer. theres no money in it for me. the things i'll tell you about cant be patented and theres thousands of companys world wild selling them. most of it you can by in your friut and vegetable shop. im doing it for love.
yea for those who looked at my answer about leukemia , i apolagize cuz i shoudnt have wrote that that way. i dont know the cure i just heard that that does cure it. but i dont know cuz i never seen it. i dont have experence directy, so i dont know , so im sorry.

Your ideas about leukemia are so far away from reality that if you really want to help people with cancer then you should volunteer to be a candy striper or wheel chair aid at your local hospital instead of talking about subjects where you have no real knowledge.

Cancer is hundreds of very complex diseases and will not be treated or cured by someone who read a few books about cancer and now believes they are able to give medical advice with life and death implications. If you are really doing this for love, then love people with cancer enough to not fill their minds with BS about cancer being an easily treatable illness using supplements, fruits and vegetables.

I hope you never have cancer but if you ever do then save these healing techniques of yours for when it is your life on the line and then you can truly be responsible for the repercussions of your own actions.

Oatmeal- Regular vs Instant Is there any difference in nutrition value ?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition value | 6 Comments »

im only comparing the plain kind, and not flavored.

well when it comes to the glycemic impact, the regualr slow cooked oatmeal is best . the instant is so processed that the carbs and sugars are more readily available for the body and the body will digest it quickly and store these carbs and sugars into fat. go all natural it's the best for you.

substitutes and nutrition for vegetarians?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 3 Comments »

so, im a vegetarian.. and i need some advice =]
there is this dish i used to LOVE [tuna, corn, mayo, pickles, and hot cheetos in a sandwich] and i want to know if any fellow vegetarians know of a tuna substitute for this recipe?
also, substitutes for any kind of meat that i can get at walmart or kroger? this way i dont have to cook separate meals for my boyfriend and i.
and one last thing- maybe a nutrition chart? like a food pyramid for vegetarians =D i want to make sure im not missing out on any important part of a healthy diet. THX =]
sea food is NOT vegetarian. vegetarians do not eat the flesh of ANY animal.. people that eat no meat exept for sea food are pescatarians.

Have you tried the Morningstar or Bocha chicken strips? They are fantastic and you can use them just like you would a chicken strip, in a sandwich or salad, and I bet if you chopped them up you could use them in the tuna recipe you are talking about. Yum.

How do nutrition and exercise affect a person’s weight?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in understanding nutrition | 3 Comments »

I really don’t understand how this works?

If you eat fatty foods and don’t excercise to burn that extra energy it’s giving you it will turn into “stored energy” aka fat. Healthy foods release their energy slowly so your more likely to burn that energy off easier… I think. Exercising and sweating just makes you burn off the calories… Do you get it?? Sorry if this doesn’t help.

Food energy value (nutrition) sources.?

December 28th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition data | 2 Comments »

There is data for each type of food that contains
Carbohydrates
Fat
Protein
and
calories

I find different data for same foods all over Internet. Where i can find precise most up to date info? I mean official insitutions not just some site with table. What official institutions make this calculations around the world?

each company tends to make things a bit different even tho it may be the same product. kinda like pepsi vs coke vs sprite…check the labels..they may all vary just a touch.

look and actually compare food labels when you go to store, compare products and brands…see the differences…it seems that would give you the most accurate account of info since books in librarys may not be fully up to date as you yourself noted how things vary on the net even.

every food product each has their own values, so that is probably the best thing i can think of to gain more precise info. yes its bit of pain but may be more to what you want to know.

not sure if these wil be of any help but you just never know give em a peek.

I'm looking for an online meal planner that will satisfy the daily values and give me nutrition facts.?

December 28th, 2008 -- Posted in daily nutrition | 3 Comments »

What I essentially want is an online planner where I can choose foods and it will give me a run down on the foods nutritional facts, and more importantly the foods' contribution to the daily values. Is there any type of online planner like what I am describing?

I use nutridiary.com . You can either find the food on the site and add it to your online diary or you can even input it if you have the information. You can also put in goals that you want. For instance, if you want to loose a certain amount of weight in a certain amount of time it will show you your adjusted caloric budget. And it's free!
