How much egg should be consumed to stay healthy?

January 19th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 2 Comments »

I saw this chart. It says:2000 calories then cholesteroal should be less than 300 mg. According the the Nutrition facts, one egg has 215 mg of cholestrol. That means more than that exceeds the cholesterol intake

well, you can do without the eggs and still be healthy. eggs are very good nutrients but their components are available in a lot of other foods. however, if you really like eggs, don't go over two a week to stay healthy. Eggs are big cholesterol balls.

How many calories does a regular tall coffee from Starbucks have?

January 17th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 2 Comments »

The calories shart for Starbucks is located at:

http://www.starbucks.com/retail/nutrition_comparison_popup.asp

But I cannot find the regular coffee on their chart.

I used half/half milk (whatever that means) and one pink sugar pack.

How many calories did I consume?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

coffee and tea have almost no calories
It’s what you put in it that can pack in the calories
half/half isn’t a bad choice, try skim next time
and one sugar pack is normally 30ish calories

so in total you probably had less than 50 calories.

Can humans live off fruits alone?

January 13th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 3 Comments »

They're so good!

Seriously though, from this website:

http://www.healthalternatives2000.com/fruit-nutrition-chart.html

it seems, aside from vitamins D and K, there aren't any vitamins or nutrients that you can't get from eating fruits. Supplementing a fruit diet with meats and carbohydrates, and maybe some daily multivitamins, nuts, could it be done? My point is… I don't really like vegetables (!).

Any ideas?

no u need to have a balanced diet with all nutrients.

My sodium levels are off the chart?

January 11th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 1 Comment »

Today I started tracking my diet and have been trying to eat healthy.
Im doing pretty good except for sodium levels.
Im using the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion website.

My recommended Sodium intake per day should be:
2300 mg
After entering all the foods I have eaten, in the correct quantities it reports:
6008

How bad is this?

Very bad, you really should not be taking in over 2300 mg a day. Some foods are decieving because they appear low in calories/fat calories but there loaded with sodium.

How many carbs and fat to intake on a 1200 (or so) calorie diet?

January 7th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 1 Comment »

I'm trying to lose weight and I've recently been finding out by reducing your carb intake, then you can lose weight pretty easily.

So what would be the carb and fat intake per day for someone who is on a 1200 calorie per day diet?

Also, does anyone know of any websites for meals you can create with low calories, carbs and fat? Keep in mind, they need to take at least 30 minutes or less to create, and ideal for someone on a budget. I'm only 22, and I've got other bills to pay, too.. so I need to keep myself on a budget.

I'll admit, normally I'm a fast food junkie and I'd rather go out and get something than take the time to make something, but after reading the nutrition charts on the different fast food places, I can't believe I ate fast food as much as I have, considering how many calories/fat/carbs are in their foods.
I'm not asking for your personal opinion on health related issues. So if you can't provide me with the answers I'm looking for, then don't even bother commenting.
And nowhere did I mention that I was still going to eat fast food while trying to eat proper. So please learn to read next time.

Firstly, a 1200 calorie a day diet is a little excessive in my opnion. The 1200 level is for serious overweight issues and is the bottom floor of caloric intake per day for anyone of normal age.

Second, I'm a full time student, so I know how budgets go, but your health is worht spending a little money on if your in need of it. I personally create my own regiments, but only after years of nutrition, anatomy, biology, as well as just personal expirence on the matter.

Third, you can't really be on a strict diet and eat fast food. It's just not going to work. It's ok to occasionally (I mean like once or twice a month) to get a chicken sandwich somewhere, but if this is regular, stop.

Health is 75% diet, 25% exercise, so get up and active, and feed your body right.

What's the difference between taking vitamins and eating vegetables?

January 5th, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 4 Comments »

Essentially, the reason why we should eat vegetables and other healthy foods is because they contain a good amount of all the good things we see in the nutrition facts chart that our body needs… and not much of the bad stuff. Also, because it's a better food to eat as opposed to chips and candy as a regular diet… obviously.

But in terms of the nutrients that we gain from vegetables… why can't I just take a really good multivitamin supplement (plus whatever else that particular one doesn't have… like fiber supplements etc..). If I managed to find vitamins that contained everything I needed on a daily basis…. why should I eat vegetables?

Is there any other benefit? Or for the veggie haters like myself, can I opt with vitamins/supplements as a complete replacement for my veggie requirements? (assuming I don't eat extra junk food/bad food to replace the lesser amount of food on my plate).

Supplements are not the 'real thing'.
Multi-Vitamins are mande in labs, Fruits & Vegetables are grown NATURALLY in the ground.
Vitamin pills will contain a basic level of Vitamin, which can be A, B, C, D etc.
However, naturally grown vegetables will contain basic vitamins but will also include extra vitamins such as Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B9, etc.
MultiVitamins are cheap and ineffective, they are not proven to actualy contain a high enough dosage of Vitamin to make any difference to Vitamin intake.
They are mearly a cloan of the real thing.

If you cant get on board with Vegetables, try new and different things. Try blending vegetables into a liquid drink, or eat them with other foods that have stronger tastes. Vitamins are vital for a healthy body, but luckily if you dont like Vegetables then you can find just as many different vitamins in Fruits.

Why does the natural cut fries have more calories?

January 3rd, 2009 -- Posted in nutrition chart | 3 Comments »

than the seasoned curly fries? (at Jack in the Box)

I'd assume that since they're "seasoned" that they would have more calories. I know it's a dumb question but I was looking at the nutrition chart on the Jack in the Box website and started wondering why.

LOL If I had a Jack in the Box by my house I might be able to better answer this. Maybe its the way they are cut. Maybe the seasoned curly fries are thinner or smaller and the natural cut is thicker. If the natural cut has more skin on it that could be a reason too.
