Oatmeal- Regular vs Instant Is there any difference in nutrition value ?

December 30th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition value | 6 Comments »

im only comparing the plain kind, and not flavored.

well when it comes to the glycemic impact, the regualr slow cooked oatmeal is best . the instant is so processed that the carbs and sugars are more readily available for the body and the body will digest it quickly and store these carbs and sugars into fat. go all natural it's the best for you.

What is the nutrition value of avocado skin and pit?

December 24th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition value | 3 Comments »

I heard during Vitamix blender presentation in Costco that it's good to put avocado pit and skin into blender as well.

But I can't find regular avocado nutrition information, for example here: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search

Was there any research done about skin and pits?
Are they really good source of nutrition?

Here is the breakdown about the pit:

What I found on the skin:

This gives more information about the latex allergy warning.

Does the nutrition value of olive oil is spoiled by heating or cooking and upto what extent.?

December 22nd, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition value | 3 Comments »

It isn't changed by the heat, but olive oil has a very low burn rate compared to other oils, so only use it when you are doing a light saute or when you are going to be adding other ingredients immediately.

Does catfish (pangasius hypothalmus) have nutrition value?

December 20th, 2008 -- Posted in nutrition value | 2 Comments »

Some supermarkets in town group it under “Lung Lei” (sole fish), which I think is a deception. On the package, they pasted the scientific name, but they put all these catfish fillet in the frige on which they marked sole fish. And when customers ask, they told them ’sole fish are there’. I am only concerned with the nutrition value and the ‘crime’ the supermarkets are commiting.
