Parents: What’s biggest Nutrition weakness for your daily diet?

How does that affect your children.

ex: lack of veg or fruits, too much fast foods, soda, drinking a lot of sugary drink..

thank you so much

I don’t let my kids drink soda. At our house we do lots of Crystal light and water. I know they drink it away from home, and I am not obsessive, but they can’t have it here, and I explain it’s terrible for them as well as their teeth. As far as nutrition..we don’t eat out much. I cook at home always and my kids don’t hate too many veggies. I just make sure that if I make hubby and I a veggy the kids don’t like, I make what they like for them. We have really good eating habits so I guess our kids do to. Just push what you know they like. Make smoothies with frozen fruit and OJ or yogurt in winter. I also sneak veggies into things. The kids don’t like zucchini..so when I make meatloaf or spaghetti sauce, even chili, I shred it in there. After cooking for a while, it becomes so small, they have no idea its in there.

My boys and I do ok with veggies, but i think they actually do better than me. I would say that junk food is our problem. If there are cookies or something like that in the house we have a habit of starting to eat only 1 or 2 and end up finishing the package.

Not enough veggies for sure. My son LOVES carbs and fruit. Fortunately and Unfortunately, he has severe food alergies (eggs, nuts, peanuts, shellfish) so we don’t eat out and he doesn’t eat fast food so he eats lot of healthy foods but all from the fruit or grains food group. He also guzzles milk which I am happy about too!

Sweets. Fortunately, I also love fruit, veggies, grains, and good carbs. So, at least we have healthy food in the house along with the sweets. Because I love sweets, my son has developed a love for them too. The strange thing to me is that even though he loves sweets, he will choose fruit over anything. He will also eat his veggies but will not touch any potatoes except french fries. I don’t drink soda and my son, he is 2, has never had a taste of soda. I only allow fast food, at the most, once a week. He well being has helped me stop eating fast food regularly. I don’t think your habits will necessarily rub off on your child as long as you give him choices and more good food than bad. If you start to see a problem, don’t give him junk and keep it for yourself.

umm fast food for lunch is my downfall…but usually I still cook Gracee’s food. But ya, she will get some fries.

My downfall is carbs. I LOVE bread and pasta.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the healthiest diet - not enough fresh fruits and veggies. I tend to like carbs and cheese. I cook wonderful, healthy meals for my 2 year old son, though. I know that I need to set a good example myself, so I plan to start eating the way he does. Right now I don’t think he is affected. He has never had soda, candy, fast food, etc.
