Should there be a law for restaurants to have to show the nutrition facts?
there might abe a new law in New York for all restaurants to show the nutrition facts for every meal on the menu…. would you agree to this new law or not…. and would you want to know the nutrition facts of say a meal at chili's or T.G.I fridays or not?
Eating out is a luxury, not a right. While I would read them if they were available personally I think if you really need to know the nutrition facts of what you're eating, cook at home.

No. Those who are interested can do the research or bring in their references. Let the restaurants do what they are supposed to do, prepare good meals.

I believe after the law suit towards McDonalds on the food making people fact, the law now states that nutrtion facts need to be present at any food location. Not doing so can result in fines.
But honestly…who goes to the places you listed looking for healthy meals? You can't be that stupid…the food is going to make you fat…that's why it's SOOO GOOD!!
Geeze…make a salad at home next time.

Definitely… alot of people don't realize that they're eating over 1000 cals whenever they go to a restaurant. If they could actually see the nutrition facts…they'd think twice before puuting it in their mouth.

I'm not positive, but I believe it is law already in Michigan. At least in my area. It does not have to be in a conspicuous area, they just have to have it available upon request. I've worked at several food establishments in the past and we always had pamphlets explaining the nutritional information of our products. If somebody asks for the information it has to be available.
Yes I do agree with it. It's law that the information has to be printed on packaged food that you buy at the grocery store, so why not prepared food at a restaurant? And this isn't only for matters of calories, fat, etc. But for those of us who have food allergies. Sometimes the food will contain ingredients that you cannot see, smell, or even taste, but you can be allergic to it.

Many restaurants already have information listed online and the two that you mention do, so you can check it out before you go. Just Google the restaurant that you want to eat at + nutrition facts. Then read the menus and decide on what you would like before you go. Also many restaurants also have nutrition facts sheets that you can get at the restaurant.
What you should remember though is that the nutrition facts listed are based on a specific weight for a specific item. If your chef happens to give you a bit more food, your calories, fat grams, carbs and protein grams will be a bit higher than what the site will show you.
Because you can have a chef that gives you a bit more or a bit less food, it is very hard for a restaurant to be 100% accurate.
Since restaurant meals are usually very large plan on only eating half and taking half home for another meal.
