Why isn't prepackaged food healthy even if the nutrition facts seem ok?
I've heard to never eat prepackaged foods but i dont understand why if the nutrition facts exhibit good nutrient supplement and low saturated fats and cholestorol? do you know? is it preservative or something? if so then why?
Pre packed foods are made with tons of chemicals to preserve them, also they usually use partially hydrogenated oil in the ingredients (look at the ingredients of most chips and cookies) this oil last for a long time and keeps the food from smelling rotten, but its bad for the health. Also many artificial smells, colors and tastes are used which are harmfull to you liver.

It is the preservatives and a lot of times the sodium. Preservatives aren't good for you. It's much better to get fresh foods.

1. it'll probably be lacking in nutrients and fiber that are often found in fresh foods.
2. it'll contain a TON of salt, which will increase your blood pressure.

Look at the ingrediant list and the sodium content. Often times you will find MSG Monosodium Glutimate for flavoring and sodium 500+ for preservation. A lot of people are allergic to MSG and too much sodium is bad for your body.
I get headaches from eating too much frozen food or prepackaged food. I don't know if it is from the MSG or sodium but I do know that the headaches come on almost immediately and I retain a lot of water when I consume too much sodium.
My new year goal is to try and prepare 80% of my own meals.

Any prepackaged food as been processed like crazy. As a general rule, you should be more concerned with the actual ingredients, rather than just the fat, cholesterol, calories, etc.
If you come across hydrogenated anything, artificial or even some "natural" flavors, coloring, the word "spices" (I'll talk about in a minute), or any word you cannot pronounce (it's a chemical), don't consume it.
Now, about the "spices". The FDA allows major food companies to use this term to replace tons of other ingredients, instead of actually listing them all. The only reason this is done is in an attempt to hide a lot of the food "no-no's" that are 100% unhealthy. We're not talking about cinnamon here…otherwise, they would just list that.

because they usually put a lot of preservatives in them and added sodium to keep them fresh longer, so you're better off just eating food that you cook yourself.
