I know that losing weight quickly is not really the best option, but I'm in a wedding this July and really want to lose about 20-25lbs before hand. I'm 24 years old , 5'4" and weigh approx 154 lbs. I used to weigh 120 before I had kids. I know that I need to exercise, and eat right, but I'm still having troubles. Help!

Here are a few tips:

1. You MUST exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off, so do something every day, even if it’s just a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. Don’t say you don’t have time for exercise; you have to MAKE time. Yes, it takes time and effort, but you’re worth it, right?

2. Walk as much as you want, but don’t do cardio for more than 40 minutes at a time. If you do, you risk burning muscle instead of fat.

3. If you do strength training, use light weights and do lots of repetitions. That’ll really help you “tone up.”

4. Your diet will make you or break you. You have probably learned bad eating habits over time (most people do). That’s not your fault, but now you have to deal with it. Make a commitment to yourself to unlearn those bad habits and re-learn better habits.

5. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of getting up. People who don’t are 450% more likely to be overweight.

6. Eat six small meals or snacks per day instead of three squares per day or one big meal per day. Your body expends energy digesting your food, so eating smaller portions more often keeps your metabolism running high because you’re constantly digesting food.

7. Avoid these as much as possible:

– Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
– High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
– Fast food
– Junk food
– White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
– The deadly C’s (cookies, cakes, candy, chips, cola)

8. Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:

– Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
– Beans/Legumes
– Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
– Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
– Eggs
– Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
– Olive oil
– Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
– Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
– Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea)
– Cold water or ice water (your body has to expend extra calories to heat it up)

9. Desserts and treats are the exception, not the rule. Having said that, however, (1) you can have a couple of pieces of chocolate every day – just don’t overdo, and (2) Allow yourself one “cheat meal” every week where you eat and drink whatever you want as long as you don’t gorge yourself. That’ll help keep you from feeling deprived and it’ll make it easier to stick with your new healthy eating plan.

There are some vegetables (like cellery and peas) that are hard to disgest so you actually burn more calories eating it then you consume. I know someone who lived off foods like that for a week once to lose weight fast. It worked. Problem is, she lost 10 pounds and gained back 20. Also, only half of the weight she lost was fat, but all of the weight she gained back was fat. Make sure you exercise a lot after these 2 weeks are up so that you gain back muscle and not just fat.

Is a high protein diet a quick way to lose weight?

I recently got down to 9st4lb from 13st, it took a year and i did it by walking and running around after my baby. I've gone upto 9st 10lbs recently but i want to be just under 9st by the beginning of June. I have hit the bar, my exercise isn't shifting anything at all.
If i cut most carbohydrates out and eat a high protein diet will this help shift stubborn weight? I've heard its dangerous so is there a way to make it safer yet still effective?

Eat a high protein diet but don't cut out carbohydrates completely. Continue to exercise even though you may feel you are not achieving very much. When loosing weight you sometimes hit a "brick wall" which is very discouraging but do soldier on.Don't forget , even though you are eating the "right food" you can still eat too much of the "right food".Its a simple equation , "calories in"- "calories out."

I want to lose some weight for a special occasion in 3 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this successfully?

Three weeks is not going to give you enough time to make a substantial change.

For starters here are some suggestions.

1.Go to a gym and start a good exercise regime ASAP. You need both aerobic (cardio) and anaerobic (resistance/weight training)

2. Drink 8 glasses of water per day.

3. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veggies and reduce the fats and sugars.

4. Instead of 3 meals per day, eat 6 smaller meals/snacks, this will help in raising your metabolism.

At best this will help you shed 5 pounds in 3 wks.You need to add some lean muscle to raise your metabolism. Remember that you need both a proper exercise and diet regimen.Stay positive and you will eventually reach and maintain your proper weight.

No secrets, tricks or shortcuts. Only way to do it, exorcise and diet, you cant have one without the other or it doesn't work. You need to do cardio, that means getting your sweat on. Run, jog, walk, pick one or do it all! Make sure you do cardio for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. and don't be afraid to weight train either, it all helps when looking for definition. Cut those carbs, calories and fats. No snacks or junk foods, just healthy hearty meals. Don't forget your crunches, sit ups, leg raises or any other ab exorcise you prefer.
It takes time to see results, just remember that.

Want to lose as much weight as possible, as quick as possible , what is the best combination between eating and exercise that the world can recomend ?

Total weightloss means being VERY active!

Confidence is key, weightloss is hard, but worth it for your health, its the most valuable thing you have… protect it and defend it!

Get outside and be active, run, walk, rollerblade, bike, SWIM, get some small weights, a workout DVD, push ups and sit ups every morning and night

Get into a routine, like when you get ready for bed, brush your teeth and do some squats, comb your hair and do sit ups, practice your school work and do psuh ups reciting the scientific elements…

Reward your self !
dont punish… run a block drink some juice, ride your bike, eat an apple

As for your stomach…
Abs are made in the kitchen!
Choose the foods you put in your mouth carefully…

Ok I wont do drugs or pills or that kinda stuff so yeah

For one week cut out all sugar, salt and starches, no choclate, no donuts, no peanuts and only 2 slices of bread a day. Don't worry about butter or olive oil, you can have 2 eggs every other day, lots of veggies and 8 glasses of water. You can eat plain almonds, walnuts, . beef and chicken, no pork. no cheese
If you can do this for 2 days, have a little piece of something you really like and then continues with this diet. Reward yourself after 4 days, but only a little piece. See how much you've lost.
