However, just like smoking cigarettes will have an affect on each one of us with varying degrees of health negatives, the green smoothie diet, I believe, will have an affect on each one of us with varying degrees of health positives. The human body was designed to be able to heal naturally right? Why are people always sick then? Perhaps that statement is wrong and the body can’t heal itself naturally? No! The predicament is that people today a) do not supply the body with the correct amount of tools, usually by way of diet, it requires to reset itself and b) we attack our body with crap that hinders the function of the limited number of essential resources that we do provide it.
I’m a huge advocate of the raw food lifestyle. The suggestion that heating foods past a certain temperature destroying required enzymes that are significant to assimilation makes sense to me. Beyond that, it is suggested that to get the most from our foods that we should masticate it until it’s gone. We have troubles handling big morsels of food. Also, I really feel that we can thrive with a a diet of largely fruits and dark green vegetables, with the occasional healthy fats. In regards to healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I usually have.
The main meals I consume each an every day are composed of lots of raw fruits and green vegetables in the form of green smoothies. Being mostly liquid, my body has no issues assimilating the nutrients.
A huge hurdle for a lot of people when changing the way they eat, and a huge one for me is the cravings for unhealthy foods. Just like a person that is addicted to drugs or alcohol must go through a detox to be able to heal, we essentially must to do the same thing. The cells in our body are comprised of stuff from foods that we have eaten in the past. The body usually craves more of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the makings of each of the cells in our bodies. With a drug detox, many times, dry sauna therapy is used to sweat out the drugs. That generally helps eliminate the physical cravings for the drug allowing the individual an improved chance of staying sober. For us, improving our eating will induce the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be quickly removed in our poop, through sweat and our pee. However, we may still crave those foods while some of the toxins in our cells are still there.
I, myself, have found that immediately after having the first drink of my smoothie the cravings for greasy foods, meat, sweets, salt, etc started to die down. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the cravings vanished completely and I would be content. The problem then was that the cravings would come back as I grew hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another smoothie prepared before the cravings would come back, or shortly after they started. The cravings gradually subsided for good as I cleaned out my system. After that I began to crave greens instead!
