Does running guarantee weight loss?

If I am eating healthy, and I run 3-4 times a week, am I guaranteed to lose weight continually?

There are no guarantees. If you are running you are burning calories. The more you run the more calories you will burn. If you eat, you intake calories, the more you eat the more calories you take in. Assuming you are really eating healthy, I would assume that the calories you burn would exceed the calories that you absorb, so theoretically you would lose weight. It is possible however that you are gaining some muscle mass in your legs from running, since muscle weighs more than fat, you may not lose weight, but will reduce fat.

    Unless you have some kind of disorder, you should be losing weight. But don't expect to not have some fat, and expect to have weight gain from muscele. You may want to use different exercising methods, if you find that you're not having weight loss in some area(s).

    not necessarily. if you have body fat, then yes. you will first loose water weight, then weight from fat. but if you are already quite thin (that doesn't mean you have no body fat, just that you have less, because everybody has body fat), then you might gain muscle weight. i actually get heavier during the cross country season due to muscle mass.

    well–never a guarantee. usually people gain some weight, because of the muscle mass. but it does guarantee body fat loss, which will you make you appear to have lost weight. =)

    depending on your size, you'll probably lose weight at first, then gain some back because of your developing muscle. don't worry about the scale though, it's just numbers. what really matters is your appearance…some of the best athletes weigh more than people who don't work out because of their muscle and they look great.
